Summer Fashion Inspiration

Feeling fashionable in the summer can feel like a challenge. While your mind might be saying “fashion,” your heart is probably saying “comfort.” This can lead to donning a summer uniform of shorts and a t-shirt. Even though I am all for the shorts and t-shirt look, summer doesn’t have to be a time to compromise fashionability for comfortability. Here are some looks I’m leaning towards this summer that allow for both fashion and comfort. 

Long Skirts & Dresses

On especially hot and humid days, I have been gravitating towards long skirts or dresses, specifically ones made from cotton or linen. Breathable materials will be your best friend during summer! I also like that I can pair skirts with tees and tanks. A bonus to skirts and dresses like these is that you can start wearing them in the spring and continue wearing them into the fall with the right accessories! My favorite summer skirt is this white one from Old Navy. 

Tanks, Tanks, and More Tanks

This has been the summer of the tank tops for me! From boxy to fitted silhouettes, tank tops can easily be dressed up or down during the summer. While I love a good fitted tank, I’ve found myself liking a boxy silhouette this year, especially if the tank top is made from a cotton or linen material. Tanks like these are cute with a pair of jeans or shorts or can be paired with a long skirt!

Accessories

While accessories can elevate any outfit during any season, summer clothes, styles, and silhouettes draw your attention to accessories. From bandanas to baseball hats to necklaces and bracelets, the summer is the perfect time to play around with accessories! 

Elevate Your T-Shirt & Shorts Combo

As I said earlier, I am all for the t-shirt and shorts combo; however, sometimes you want to feel more fashionable than an old high school t-shirt and pair of gym shorts allow for. While I myself am still on the hunt for elevated t-shirts and shorts, below is some inspiration. Patterned shorts that are cotton or linen can give an effortlessly comfortable and cute look, especially when paired with fun summer tees.
