Ins and Outs for 2024

I’ve recently listened to a lot of podcasts where the hosts have all mentioned how the start of 2024 feels slower than previous years, and I would have to agree. Most years, I feel like I’m living in a daze between Christmas and New Year's, trying to decide my New Year's resolutions. This year, however, I took my time and decided to use January to reflect on goals that I want to achieve in 2024, as well as consider the habits I want to leave in 2023. After taking January to think, I’ve decided to hop on the social media trend and list my Ins and Outs for 2024.

Outs
  • Leaving homework and work assignments until the last minute and rushing to finish them

  • Poor communication (like taking days to respond to texts and messages)

  • Wanting to work out or change my diet for any reason other than taking care of myself in a healthy manner

  • Letting my anxiety and mental health control my life and get the best of me

  • Feeling bad for taking time for myself

Ins
  • Making an effort to forge new friendships and strengthen existing ones

  • Setting aside time each month to visit my family or each week to FaceTime/call them

  • Reading one book per month for pleasure

  • Getting back into painting, coloring, making crafts, journaling, etc. (even if it’s just for a little bit every night while I watch TV)

  • Actually adhering to the shopping lists, cleaning schedules, and to-do lists I create

  • Giving myself grace if/when I slip and do something from the “Outs” list OR don’t do something from the “Ins” list

2023 was a year of change for me, and while it was overall a pretty good year, there were moments where I felt like I was barely keeping my head above water. Now that I’ve reflected on what I want this year to look like, here’s to making 2024 a year of intentionality and grace!
